The Anglo Cuban All Stars (Cubanos en Londres)

Last summer I received an unexpected call from Hector Martignon who was in London with Carmen La Cubana at Sadder’s Wells. He was working as the musical director for an all Cuban band that were in the midst of a World Tour.

… back in 2005 Hector had asked me to join his band Foreign Affair when I was living in New York, it was an exciting time, recording on his (Grammy Nominated) album Refugee and playing with some of the finest latin-jazz rhythm section players in NYC; Roberto Quintero, Samuel Torres, Ernesto Simpson, Ludwig Afonso to name but a few. We played a handful of gigs around New York until the Broadway show I was working on came to a close and I had to return to London.

… So, when he called, it took me no time to suggest the idea of booking a rehearsal room to get Hector’s cuban band together some of my London friends.
